The Creative World of Synthia Saint James
2004 Wall Calendar

In reviews, her artwork has been described as "ebullient," "joyful" and "bold."    "[Saint James] creates paintings that remind one of Matisse cutouts in their clear line and intense color," wrote one art critic.  Saint James is a self-taught artist and credits the creator and her ancestry (which includes African American, Native American and Haitian roots) for her artistic gifts.  She is an international, award-winning artist and designer of the United States Postal Stamp for the Kwanzaa holiday, has to date written and illustrated 13 children's picture books, three poetry and prose books, three children's activity books and a cookbook.  Her paintings have also graced the covers of over 50 books, including Terry McMillan's Waiting to Exhale, Disappearing Acts, Mama and the Japanese translation of How Stella Got Her Groove Back, as well as Iyanla Vanzant's Acts of Faith, Faith in the Valley and The Big Book of Faith.  This calendar also includes references to important events, birthdays, and holidays relevant to black history.
