About this Dramatic Production

Good ol’ Pop Brown lived to be 107 years old and he only left his family $400 to put him to rest. This story is everything but a fairy tale since funerals bring out the best and the worst of family love.  L.B, (Larry Brown), the oldest son and wife Sarah were Pop Brown’s only caretakers for 11 years. Their sidity daughter Mi-Lay arrives and takes matters in her own hands including paying for the rest of the funeral.

On the scene enters “Downtown” Leroy Brown, the zany and abnormal character we all know and love to show off his daughter the family has never met--oh yes… she is Madea’s daughter, Cora. Vera, sister to the Brown brothers, arrives with the distinguished side of the family, who include her doctor son Will, and his wife Kim, an almost surgeon. The Brown family is all together and now the promise of laughter and drama begins.

A sad and grieving Brown family still comes up with potty humor during the funeral. The minister lets them have their way because he is focused on another subject! Although some romance is on the bubble for Cora, MiLay’s ex-husband Gerald shows up with an apologetic spirit in his heart and Kim, with the perfect relationship, identifies infidelity in her marriage. Both circumstances call for love and understanding from Sarah and Vera, the elders of counseling women. Sarah and Vera have a way of making bad situations turn good! Both generations recognize there is a strong bond in a real marriage. The enduring power of love is enrichment for the soul. Cora is enduring a little herself in developing a relationship and getting proposals…no not work…but lunch, dinner, and Hawaii??? What’s next?

A bunch of excitement combined with disappointment and dejection are paralleled to make this production another super smash winner written and produced by TYLER PERRY. It is far removed from your typical plot. Mr. Leroy Brown drives all the action to put it in that special category. (NOTE:  Tyler Perry is NOT in this play.)
