Diana Ross is Dorothy in Motown's film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical. Both the stage play and the film are based on Frank Baum's loved classic, "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz."
Dorothy, a 24-year-old Harlem
schoolteacher, is sitting down to Thanksgiving Day dinner with her close-knit family.
After a sumptuous meal, Dorothy takes a long walk and, deep in thought, loses track of
time. Suddenly, a windstorm carries her far, far away to a magical metropolis where she
meets a bunch of unusual characters. Together, Dorothy and her new friends try to find the
one man who can make their dreams come true. But soon they'll learn that what they've been
looking for has been with them all along.
