INSTRUCTIONS

Voters can
only vote ONCE and for ONE author. Votes can be cast
between March 15 and midnight April 15, 2007.

An e-mail
address must be entered by the voter. He/she will receive a
verification e-mail message with a link, and verification of
each vote will be required before the vote is officially
registered.

Only one
vote can be cast from an individual
computer. This
measure is set in force to eliminate “cheating” (i.e.,
people voting more than once with different e-mail addresses
to try to circumvent the system).

Once a
person votes, he/she can view the existing voting numbers
and percentages and can check them continually.
CUSHCITY.COM ANNOUNCES
BEST NEW AUTHOR SEMI-FINALISTS
March 9, 2007 - Cushcity.com,
which has the largest selection of African-American products on
line, is sponsoring its second annual 2007 Best New Author Award.
The award will be announced June 1, 2007 and the grand prize is an
all-expense paid 7-day Caribbean cruise with Cushcity staff and
featured authors in September of this year.
The award process commenced Jan. 5
with nominations, and ended on Feb. 28. Over 3,000 nominations
were received for more than 150 authors. The 20 authors who
received the most nominations and will move on to the next phase of
the award process are as follows (in alphabetical order):

Book readers and other supporters may
vote for the author of their choice starting March 15, and the
voting process ends a month later on April 15. The ten (10)
authors with the most votes and book sales at Cushcity.com during
this period will become the finalists. The list of finalists
will be publicized no later than April 25.
The guidelines for an author nominee
were:
1) Writer must have a debut novel, book of poetry, or non-fiction
work released within the past two (2) years (copyright in 2005, 2006
or 2007). Author may have a second or third published work, but
debut book (ANY BOOK OF ANY GENRE OR KIND) must have copyright in
2005, 2006 or 2007.
2) Writer must be a U.S. citizen and reside within the contiguous
United States.
3) Book must be published in a standard, perfect-bound format.
4) Book cannot be pornographic in nature; however, erotic books with
tasteful artwork will be considered at the discretion of
Cushcity.com.
5) An author may nominate him/herself and/or be nominated by
friends, family and business associates. An individual may nominate
more than one author, but may NOT nominate the same author more than
once.
Cushcity.com is the most highly
trafficked African-American e-commerce web site in cyberspace, receiving more
than 2 million hits per month. Willie and Gwen Richardson,
co-founders of Cushcity.com, Inc., were featured in the
January/February 2006 edition of Black Issues Book Review in
the article "The Power Behind Black Books." The
Richardsons and/or Cushcity have also been featured in Ebony,
Essence, Upscale and Black Enterprise magazines, as well as The
New York Times Business Section. The 2007 cruise will showcase
several best-selling authors, including Dwayne Joseph.
