Greetings From National Black Book Festival Headquarters: The 2015 National Black Book Festival was absolutely awesome! The featured authors, seminar presenters and participating authors were all professional and first-class. As is the case for all NBBFs, long-term relationships were developed and blossomed, authors had the opportunity to pitch and sell their books to readers from across the region, and authors also received hands-on critiques of their work along with marketing techniques for the future. The winner of the Boost Your Book Writing Competition sponsored by Brown Girls Books was Cortina Jackson, who received the grand prize of a one-hour, one-on-one session with the company's co-founders, ReShonda Tate Billingsley and Victoria Christopher Murray, plus a $100 cash prize sponsored by NBBF.
Early Bird Preferred registration is now open for the
2016 Festival, the dates of which are Oct. 27-29, 2016. For authors who
sign up by Nov. 30th and pay a $50.00 deposit, their author photo is
included on the NBBF website FREE of charge. After Nov. 30th, there is a
one-time photo fee of $89.00 for authors to have their photos on the
website. The Early Bird Preferred registration is only $225.00. A $50.00
deposit is required and the final payment of $175.00 is not due until
July 31, 2016. After Nov. 30th, the registration rate goes up to
$250.00. This year for the first time, during
the early bird sign up period only (which ends Feb. 28, 2016), we are
allowing two authors to share a table for an additional $100 fee. To register, visit the NBBF web site. We want NBBF to continue to trend via social media so, if you post photos from the event, be sure to use #nbbf2015 to make it easier for others to search for and view them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.Enjoy these photos from the 2015 National Black Book Festival. The Black Point of View: An Investigation and Study of the White People
of America and Western Europe & The Autobiography of an American Ghetto
Boy I soon realized that I could not write about me as an African American child and teen living in America, without writing about White America, what it was like when I was a child, how it shaped the people around me and what it is like to now live in America, which for tens of millions of African American children is horrific, terrifying, and not so very different than it was for me as a child. -- Tony Rose Visit the author's website: www.theblackpointofview.com
