Cushcity.com was launched in December 1998 and initially sold African-American books and videos. It has since expanded its product lines to include toys, games, dolls, software, calendars, greeting cards, stationery items, apparel, collectibles and Black Greek products. Additional product lines are slated for this summer and fall.
Cushcity.com received an award for Internet innovation last month at MOBE-IT, the twice-annual Internet and Technology symposium series which recognizes African-Americans who have made strides on the Internet. Other award recipients have included Omar Wasow, Executive Director of BlackPlanet.com; Dwayne Walker, CEO of ShopNow.com; and Darien Dash, CEO of DME Interactive Holdings.
